The Mechanical Design Team works with all Engineering Disciplines, Construction Management and the client to meet project needs.
The Mechanical Design Team’s project life cycle starts with the P&ID’s in the Drafter’s hands taking form either from scratch or from existing drawings from the client. While the P&ID’s are under way the preliminary plot plan layout is developed. Once the Plot Plan and P&ID’s are approved by the client our designers attention moves towards completely reviewing and understanding the P&ID’s as well as the spec’ed equipment. Once the equipment is thoroughly reviewed, our designer accurately models all pieces of equipment. As the equipment is modeled, it is placed in its correct location per the plot plan. Close communication and coordination with the Structural Department is used to ensure foundations and steel are in the correct locations. The Mechanical Designer accurately models all lines on the P&ID’s into the 3D model. Once all the equipment and pipe are in the model the QA/QC procedure with the Mechanical Engineering Team kicks into gear to review the accuracy of the piping model and to review pipe supports, stress analysis, and other design criteria for the project. After the design review process is complete, our designers start to produce the isometric drawings, piping plans and any other needed documents for construction. Post IFC the Mechanical Designer, along with the rest of the engineering team will support construction as needed.
