Fly Ash Terminal – Greenfield
ZAP Engineering & Construction Services, Inc. designed a greenfield fly ash terminal on an existing rail line. A new spur added for a new rail unloading pit. Fly ash unloaded at the rail pit was pneumatically conveyed from 2 convey pods to 1 of 3 storage structures. A single truck unloading station was added to pneumatically convey silos.
In a flat storage building, fly ash was moved via a front end loader and dumped into a drive-over hopper. Fly ash was fed from the underground hopper to a bucket elevator via air-slide and distributed to silos. Both silos had aerated bin bottoms. Fly ash discharged from the silos was metered and blended. The metering was done by in-line flow meters. Blended ash was then fed via air-slide to the truck loading spout.
